Stage 1
The beginning of hormonal stimulation of ovulation. The drugs allow you to get a larger number of eggs (in the natural cycle, only one matures, less often two). For stimulation, the doctor can prescribe drugs in different forms – pills or injections. During the stimulation, several ultrasounds are performed to monitor the growth of follicles.
Stage 2
On the right day, a puncture of the follicles is prescribed. This is a procedure in which the doctor receives follicles from the ovaries. The procedure is completely painless, since it is performed under general or local anesthesia. After the puncture, the reproductologist will give you a sick list.
Stage 3
Delivery and processing of sperm. On the day of the puncture, the spouse delivers an ejaculate to the clinic for subsequent fertilization.
Stage 4
After the cells are transferred to the laboratory, embryologists process them and carry out fertilization.
Stage 5
Embryo cultivation. The resulting embryos are cultured in the laboratory from 3 to 5 (rarely 7) days.
Stage 6
Embryo transfer into the uterine cavity. The most beautiful and promising embryo is chosen for transfer into the uterine cavity. From one to two embryos are transferred to the uterus. To transfer two, indications are needed, more often reproductologists make a choice in favor of transferring one embryo in order to avoid possible complications associated with multiple pregnancies.
Stage 7
Hormonal support of the luteal phase. For successful implantation and pregnancy support, the reproductologist will prescribe progesterone medications. The protocol is completed! After 10-14 days, you can do a pregnancy test or take a blood test for HCG.
